This window display at M. L. Cooper pharmacy features the history of pharmacy through pictures. The picture in the top left of the window is a painting of Galen, born in Rome in 130 A.D. He taught Pharmacy and Medicine, and he even invented cold cream! The painting in the top right depicts ancient Chinese Emperor Shen Nung, who emphasized research on the medicinal value of plants and herbs, an idea that had not been seriously investigated before.

The images used in the display were taken from the book: “Great Moments in Pharmacy” By George A. Bender Paintings By Robert A. Thom – you can view the images and read their captions courtesy of the Washington State University College of Pharmacy!
